Today’s Kaizer Chiefs transfer wrap looks at what the future might hold for young winger Mduduzi Shabalala.
21-year-old winger Shabalala wasn’t an automatic pick in the side last season after a promising start.
Could Chiefs sell the player and find new solutions in the PSL?
The Kaizer Chiefs striker curse
Shabalala on his way out?
Only a bold man would predict that Mduduzi Shabalala will leave Chiefs in the winter, but his long-term prospects don’t look great. The writing isn’t on the wall yet, however, and it’s up to the player to prove how much he wants to become a legend at the club. If big offers come in from any of the wealthy clubs in South Africa, or better yet, abroad, Chiefs might have to seriously consider them. The money could go towards two or even three new young prospects playing in South Africa.

Kaizer Chiefs to change their strategy and target young PSL prospects?
Chiefs believed that targets Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi were no longer contractually tied to the Mother City outfit Cape Town Spurs. This, after Spurs’ relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the amateur ABC Motsepe League. Spurs are contesting Chiefs’ claims in court. 22-year-old winger Velebayi made 23 appearances in the 2023-2024 Betway Premiership season. Striker Baartman, still just 19, made nine league appearances in the same season, scoring twice.
Leaner on the Chiefs radar
According to Siseko Gwegwe, Chiefs are looking to part ways with Fiacre Ntwari and replace him with Sekhukhune’s Renaldo Leaner.
Is Baartman a good target?
