Katie Price has never been afraid to call out her exes and, in a new interview, she’s taken aim at Dwight Yorke.
The footballer is the father of Katie’s oldest son, Harvey, but has been estranged since his birth in 2002.
Dwight, 54, initially denied paternity and demanded a DNA test, which came back positive.
In October, Katie shared a clip of her son supporting his dad’s former football team, Manchester United, and chanting ‘Oi Oi Yorkie’.
On the new podcast Life Stories by Lewis Nicholls, Katie addressed the estrangement and insisted she sends out invitations ‘every year’ to Dwight.
‘Did he ever want anything to do – was he there supporting the pregnancy?’ Lewis asked in the trailer for the episode.
Katie replied: ‘For me, I thought it’s important that when Harvey grows up, I never want him to say, “Why didn’t you let my dad see me?” and all of that. But Harvey doesn’t understand, which is probably a good thing.’
Now 23 years old, Harvey lives in full-time care as he has autism, Prader-Willi syndrome, and septo-optic dysplasia.
Katie continued: ‘Every year, my mum contacts his manager, “Do you want to see Harvey for his birthday? Do you want to see him for Christmas?”
‘It’s always the same answer, just not interested.’
Last year, the TV personality claimed that Dwight had seen Harvey around nine times in his life but insisted the ‘door is always open’.
At the time, she said she just wanted Dwight to ‘know what a gorgeous young man Harvey is’.
‘Harvey has so much banter,’ the proud mum continued. ‘He’s just a funny little b. You never know what’s going to come out of his mouth.’
She previously claimed that the footballer has not seen his son since 2012 and Dwight rarely – if ever – comments on his relationship with Harvey.
In his 2009 book, Born to Score, Dwight emphasised his love for the child: ‘From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible.
‘I am not going to hear any more that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare.’
Symptoms of Prader-Willi syndrome
Typical symptoms of Prader-Willi syndrome include:
- Lack of sexual development.
- Behavioural challenges, such as emotional outbursts and physical aggression.
- An excessive appetite and overeating which can easily lead to dangerous weight gain.
- Restricted growth (children are much shorter than average).
- Floppiness caused by weak muscles (hypotonia).
- Learning difficulties.
He added: ‘Over the years, I have heard Katie saying how [Peter] Andre is Harvey’s dad and what a terrible, uncaring father I have been, all of which sticks in my throat. Maybe if she had not made life so difficult for me, might have been able to take a far more proactive role.’
Harvey’s health has been a major concern for Katie recently as she admitted his weight had climbed to almost 30 stone.
Katie went on to reveal that she was hoping Harvey’s doctors would give him the green light to start having weight loss jabs to help him shed some pounds and stay healthy.
She added: ‘I’m still waiting for the doctors to get back to me starting on the Mounjaro and his journey to a healthy life. It’s so sad his quality of life at the moment where he’s so big, he just can’t really do much.’
Katie has long been an advocate for her son, becoming a full-time caregiver for most of Harvey’s life.
