Katie Price has shared a sad video of her son Harvey Price on social media, with the youngster calling out his father, Dwight Yorke
Harvey, 23, is the son of Katie, 47, and the former footballer, 53, and was born in 2002 with autism, Prader-Willi syndrome and septo-optic dysplasia.
Since his son’s birth, Dwight has been estranged and has rarely visited or contacted his son since his birth.
But Katie appeared to make a move to reach out to Dwight in a recent video of his child.
‘Oi Oi Yorkie,’ Harvey can be heard saying while wearing a Manchester United football t-shirt in the short video on Katie’s Instagram. She then tagged Dwight and Manchester United Football Club, where her ex used to play.
The video pulled on heartstrings for many viewers, considering Dwight is no longer in his son’s life, and Katie has made various claims over the years that Dwight doesn’t want to be involved in his child’s upbringing.
Dwight initially denied the paternity of Harvey, demanding a DNA test that proved he was the infant’s father.
In his 2009 book, Born to Score, Dwight emphasised his love for the child: ‘From the moment I set eyes on the little fella, I have loved my son like I could never ever have imagined possible.
‘I am not going to hear any more that I did not care for Harvey, or have any understanding of his needs or that I was not interested in his welfare.’
He also added: ‘Over the years I have heard Katie saying how [Peter] Andre is Harvey’s dad and what a terrible, uncaring father I have been, all of which sticks in my throat. Maybe if she had not made life so difficult for me, might have been able to take a far more proactive role.’
Symptoms of Prader-Willi syndrome
Typical symptoms of Prader-Willi syndrome include:
- Behavioural challenges, such as emotional outbursts and physical aggression.
- An excessive appetite and overeating which can easily lead to dangerous weight gain.
- Restricted growth (children are much shorter than average).
- Floppiness caused by weak muscles (hypotonia).
- Learning difficulties.
- Lack of sexual development.
In 2024, Katie claimed that Dwight had seen Harvey on fewer than 10 occasions.
‘I think he’s seen Harvey about nine times in his life,’ she claimed during an interview on the Anything Goes podcast with James English.
‘I’ve tried to send him pictures of Harvey on Instagram, Harvey playing the piano, he just ignores everything – doesn’t want to know. But the door’s always open. Always.’
‘My mum still contacts his manager every year, and asks does he want to see Harvey for his birthday, and it’s always the same – no,’ she told The Guardian in 2023.
‘I just want Dwight to know what a gorgeous young man Harvey is,’ Katie explained. ‘Harvey has so much banter. He’s just a funny little b. You never know what’s going to come out of his mouth.’
Earlier this year, Katie revealed Harvey is taking weight loss jabs ‘to save his life’ as he weighs nearly 30 stone.
She told The Sun: ‘He’s putting on weight. It doesn’t matter what we do.
‘He can’t put his shoes on without sweating. He can’t walk far because he gets out of breath.
‘It’s because of all the weight. So the doctors are doing it to give him a better, longer life, and for his health.’
