MALESELA APPEARS ON PODCAST AND CHILL
The trial of those accused of killing Senzo Meyiwa continues to grip the nation, drawing headlines and intense public interest. Now, former advocate Malesela Teffo has added shocking new accusations to the already explosive case.
In an episode of Podcast and Chill that aired on Thursday, 17 July 2025, former advocate Malesela Teffo revealed disturbing details about the events of that fateful evening.
Teffo stated that the five accused men currently on trial are completely innocent and claimed he had compelling evidence supporting this.
Meyiwa was killed on 26 October 2014 at Kelly Khumalo’s Vosloorus home in what was initially reported as a robbery.
Instead, Teffo said Meyiwa’s death resulted from an accidental gunshot allegedly fired by Kelly after a chaotic scuffle in the house.
TEFFO DETAILS WHAT HAPPENED ON THE DAY SENZO WAS MURDERED
He claimed Longwe Twala, Zandi Khumalo’s ex-boyfriend, brought the gun after suspecting she was romantically involved with someone else.
According to Teffo, Longwe intended to intimidate Zandi, but tensions escalated after finding Meyiwa and other men inside the house.
TEFFO CLAIMS KELLY SHOT MEYIWA
Kelly allegedly asked Senzo to take the gun from Longwe. A tussle reportedly ensued, with Senzo eventually overpowering Longwe and handing over the firearm to Kelly.
After that, Longwe and Meyiwa briefly stepped outside. When Meyiwa returned, Teffo claimed Kelly accidentally pulled the trigger while handing him the gun.
“When he came back, he said Kelly, letha isibhamu (bring the firearm). Kelly was then going to give the firearm to Senzo, but she was playful,” Teffo said.
He suggested that Kelly may have been playfully joking about shooting him when the gun accidentally discharged and shot him.
“When Senzo was about to receive that, that’s when the bullet came out,” he added, claiming the bullet pierced Meyiwa’s lung.
‘I WON’T DIE IF THEY WANT ME DEAD’: MALESELA
Teffo further claimed that his version of events came from eyewitnesses and his own investigation. He also alleged that he spoke to Longwe Twala in prison.
“What I can tell you is that for sure those five guys are innocent, they’ve got their good alibis. When I’m talking about alibi, I mean accused numbers one and two — they were in KZN the day Senzo was shot and killed in that house,” he said.
Teffo ended with a dramatic claim that eleven lives had been lost in the case and his own safety is at risk.
“I won’t die. If they want me dead, they must ask God first,” he said.
