Kenan Thompson & Kel Mitchell are officially teaming up again for a Frankenstein-inspired horror comedy film.
The pair will reteam as producers and stars of Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein, with plans to shoot the movie later this year. The story will reportedly follow two delivery drivers who accidentally stumble into an old mansion and wake Frankenstein’s monster.
The script will be written by At Midnight‘s Jonah Feingold, with John Ryan Jr, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, and Carter Swan joining the comedy duo as producers.
Speaking to Prime Video on Tuesday evening, Thompson announced: “Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected. We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it.”
Kenan & Kel Have Stuck Together Since The ’90s
The comedy duo first met during work on All That, a Nickelodeon sketch show that catapulted them both to international fame. Shortly thereafter, the pair had their own project: Kenan & Kel. The sitcom ran for four years, with the duo releasing plenty of acclaimed movies like Good Burger during the same window.
Kenan Thompson joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2003 and has been a regular member ever since. At the time of joining, he was the only regular cast member who was younger than the show itself.
More recently, Kenan and Kel have reunited for projects like Good Burger 2—which have typically been met with mixed reviews. The pair have frequently spoken about their strong professional bond, which keeps them coming back with fresh ideas.
“Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new,” Mitchell teased about their upcoming Frankenstein movie. “It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride.”
