Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) tangled web of lies is starting to unravel, but it’s not his wife Abi Webster (Sally Carman) who first discovers the shocking truth. In dramatic upcoming scenes on Coronation Street, Kevin’s fake cancer diagnosis is exposed, and it all begins when two very different secrets unexpectedly collide.
Viewers have seen Kevin claim he’s still battling cancer, even going so far as to tell Abi he’s been undergoing chemotherapy in a desperate attempt to save their marriage. However, his lies begin to catch up to him. How much longer can he keep this secret?
As Abi makes plans to accompany Kevin to one of his so-called chemo sessions, Tyrone steps in to try and stall her. Tension builds as Kevin, desperate to avoid exposure, sneaks out behind her back. But just as he slips away, he’s sidetracked by something unexpected.
Down the ginnel, Kevin spots Carl deep in conversation with Fiona. He overhears Carl bragging about a flashy motor he’s been working on, and how Fiona could swipe it within the hour, so they can split the profits. Kevin is stunned, but things take an even more dramatic turn when he witnesses Fiona speeding off in the very car Carl described.
Acting on instinct, Kevin tries to chase after the stolen vehicle, but the stress overwhelms him and he quickly becomes unwell. Luckily, Glenda happens to be passing by and insists on taking Kevin straight to the hospital.
While at the hospital, Kevin tries to brush off the incident, insisting it was a false alarm and he’s fine. He tells Carl as much, clearly rattled by what he’s seen. But Carl senses Kevin’s anxiety and decides to do some digging.
Kevin confronts Carl about what he saw down the ginnel, prepared for Carl to beg for forgiveness, but after a suspicious conversation with hospital staff, Carl reveals that he knows Kevin has been lying about his cancer. Kevin is stunned as Carl confronts him directly, making it clear that Kevin isn’t the only one with secrets to hide, and now they both have something on each other.
As the pressure mounts, Kevin is left reeling, with the very real threat that his web of lies could soon come crashing down. But will Carl keep quiet, or will he use Kevin’s secret to his advantage? And most importantly, how long before Abi discovers that the man she loves has been deceiving her all along? And could this lead her right into Carl’s arms?
One thing’s for certain, Kevin’s days of keeping up appearances may be numbered.
