The All Blacks and Wallabies both made a perfect start to the Rugby Championship after collecting a full five log points in the opening round, and there is now pressure on both the Springboks and Argentina to bounce back – especially considering they are playing at home.
This Saturday, the Springboks welcome the Wallabies to Cape Town, with kick off at 17:10.
Rassie Erasmus’ charges will hope to secure some redemption with a bonus-point victory over Australia, before then hoping for a favour from the Pumas in Argentina. That game kicks off at 23:10 (SA time).
If the All Blacks do secure another victory away from home, it would make them almost immediate favourites in the Rugby Championship as they will next welcome the Springboks to New Zealand for back-to-back matches after this weekend.
From there, the Springboks will welcome Argentina to Durban before finishing the tournament against the same opposition in London, where this neutral venue could add an air of unpredictability to proceedings.
All in all, it looks set to be extremely difficult for the Springboks to get their Rugby Championship campaign back on track, with even one more defeat almost certain to bring an end to any hope of a title defence.
