KISS guitarist Ace Frehley died on Thursday, October 16. One week later, the remaining founding members of the rock band reunited for Frehley’s funeral.
“[Ace Frehley] has now been laid to rest in Bronx NY,” radio personality Eddie Trunk shared via Instagram on Wednesday, October 22. “It has been an emotional couple of days to say the least saying farewell to a rock icon and long time friend. All of the services went as well as they could and were attended by a small group of family and close friends,” he added, explaining that Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss were in attendance for their longtime bandmate’s services.
Following Frehley’s death at age 74, Simmons and Stanley released a joint statement.
“I am devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy,” the duo told The Hollywood Reporter. “My thoughts are with Jeanette, Monique and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”
According to Trunk, Frehley’s family gave him the “okay to pursue a tribute show” in the future.
“That’s something I feel , and many others feel, is deserved and should happen,” he added in his Wednesday post. “There is nothing at all to share yet on this, but when there is you will for sure know about it. I think it’s important for Ace’s legacy, his fans, and the countless guitar players he influenced. Again when there is real news and a real plan on this I’ll let you know. For now crank up the music and remember and celebrate Ace for all he gave us and left us with.”
Frehley’s death came after two devastating falls. The second fall, on October 6, forced the band to cancel the remainder of their 2025 concert dates.
“In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth,” his family said at the time.
