Kpop star’s agency releases statement after she tries to sue YG Entertainment for trillions

Former 2NE1 Kpop star Park Bom went viral yesterday after announcing she was suing YG Entertainment for 1002003004006007001000034’64272e trillion won, $4.5 quadrillion in dollars, on grounds of unpaid earnings. The figure alone caused the situation to go majorly viral as people tried to get their heads around the numbers – and now the agency who looks after Park Bom D-Nation has released a statement debunking the claim and Bom’s deleted her post. Here’s what’s actually going on with it.

Park Bom’s staggering post

Park Bom shared a post on social media that she was filing a lawsuit agains YG Entertainment for unpaid royalties, which include royalties from music, concert income, brand deals and songwriting credits for her time in 2NE1 – a hugely successful Kpop group who recently did a reunion series that Bom had to pull out of.

However, within hours Park Bom agency D-Nation released a clarifying statement and her post about YG Entertainment was deleted. The statement read “All settlements related to Park Bom’s activities with 2NE1 have already been completed, and there is no record of any complaint or lawsuit being filed, despite what was uploaded on social media. Park Bom has halted all activities and is currently focusing on treatment and recovery.”

The company also said what Park Bom posts on social media is beyond their control. Park Bom further clarified “Park Bom hates YG. Dear people who use the internet, please find out thoroughly what YG did to Park Bom. Thank you.”

What is going on with Park Bom?

In February of this year, it was announced Park Bom would be taking a break from work on grounds of her mental health. A statement read “many of the videos that sparked controversy only highlighted her struggling moments”.

A representative also said “She plans to focus on improving her stamina and managing her mental wellbeing to prepare thoroughly for 2NE1’s upcoming Seoul encore concert.”
