KwaZulu-Natal residents woke up to brisk temperatures and partly cloudy skies on Monday, marking another cold and dry winter morning in the province. Durban started at just 9°C, while inland areas like Newcastle and Ulundi remained even more freezing.
“We are starting the day with a bit of fog over the South Coast and the adjacent interior,” reported the weather forecaster.
Temperatures barely reach 20°C
Temperatures across KwaZulu-Natal will mostly stay in the upper teens throughout the day. Coastal regions fared slightly better, with Durban expected to peak at 23°C under mostly dry skies.
“It’s going to be a dry one for the interior,” forecasters said.
Pietermaritzburg and inland towns will experience cooler maximums, while the Drakensberg foothills remain particularly cold. Despite the sun’s appearance through the clouds in the afternoon, conditions in KwaZulu-Natal will stay far from warm.
Cloudy skies and cool afternoons persist
The afternoon will bring slight improvements in visibility, but skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy in the eastern parts of the province. The South African Weather Service indicated no immediate rainfall, focusing on dry conditions for much of KwaZulu-Natal.
