KwaZulu-Natal will experience scorching heat and strong winds – Bundlezy

KwaZulu-Natal will experience scorching heat and strong winds

KwaZulu-Natal residents are bracing for one of the hottest days of the season. Temperatures are expected to soar across the region, and strong winds are expected.

Forecaster Joel Guy warned of scorching highs: “It is quite a hot day over KwaZulu-Natal with Richards Bay expecting 38 degrees, Pietermaritzburg reaching 35, and Durban at 32,” he said.

The heat is expected to dominate inland towns while coastal areas remain hot and humid. Many residents may struggle with the soaring temperatures.

Strong winds add to fire risk

Adding to the heat, strong winds continue to sweep across the province. Guy highlighted their role in worsening conditions.

“We are talking about wind speeds of up to 40 kilometres per hour, with gusts reaching 45 kilometres per hour,” he explained.

Strong wind combined with hot weather raises the risk of veld fires and make outdoor activities more challenging. Authorities have urged residents to limit unnecessary travel and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

Cooler Relief in the South

While much of the province will swelter, southern areas may experience slightly cooler conditions. The weather pattern shows cooling from the Western Cape spreading eastward, though KwaZulu-Natal will largely remain hot.

Guy pointed out the contrast: “Cooler conditions are moving towards the southern coastline all the way into Cape Town, which is dropping to 19 degrees,” he said.
