Kyle Glass and Jack Black “Hashed It Out” After Tenacious D Hiatus – Bundlezy

Kyle Glass and Jack Black “Hashed It Out” After Tenacious D Hiatus

Kyle Glass claims that he and Jack Black are now on better terms following their professional hiatus in 2024.

Since 1994, the two musicians have been better known as ‘Tenacious D’, a comedy rock band known for their eccentric lyricism and eccentric personalities. In 2024, Black decided to abruptly end the duo’s musical tour after Glass made a controversial joke about President Donald Trump‘s attempted assassination.

Kyle Glass Harbors No Resentment Towards Jack Black

“You go through these ups and downs,” Glass explained to Rolling Stone in a new interview, “and try to understand your partner.” He admits he’s “felt terrible ever since” making the joke that set the cracks into the duo’s partnership, and that he bears a “responsibility” for what came next.

Following Glass’ onstage comments, Black promptly released a statement on social media claiming that he was “blindsided” by Glass’ joke and “would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.” The actor/musician then decided to call off the rest of their tour, putting “all future creative plans on hold” for Tenacious D.

After the public fallout, Glass claims he “hashed it out” with his old friend and harbors no resentment towards Black for making the swift decision to end the tour. “Jack has this magnificent career”, he admitted, “I can’t even count the franchises now […] I just had to take the long ride home.”

Tenacious D’s Hiatus Won’t Be Forever, Glass Claims

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Glass teased that he now feels more comfortable talking about future collaborations with Black. “We will be back. We will return,” he assured.

Despite not publicly working together since the split, Tenacious D still released a compilation album—The Complete Masterworks, Vol 3—last year. It includes live recordings from the ‘Spicy Meatball’ tour prior to its cancelation, and several music videos for their most beloved songs.

Despite these rumors of a reunion. Glass was unable to give an exact timeline on any future plans with Tenacious D. “We will serve no D-wine before it’s D-time,” he quipped. Jack Black has not yet commented on the prospect.
