Legendary WWE Hall of Famer Reportedly in Hospice

WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda, the father of late wrestling star Bray Wyatt, is apparently dealing with serious health struggles.

Barry Windham, Rotunda’s brother-in-law and fellow wrestling legend, revealed in a recent interview with longtime wrestling journalist Bill Apter that Rotunda, 67, is in hospice.

“Mike is in hospice right now,” Windham said, adding “I love that family. It’s so tragic.”

While Windham did not specify what medical problems his brother-in-law is dealing with, it’s clear that Rotunda is very ill.

”It’s been a great ride, and I would like for you all to pray for Mike,” Windham added.

The Rotundas are wrestling royalty

Mike Rotunda’s wife Stephanie is Windham’s sister and the daughter of former pro wrestler Blackjack Mulligan. Their two sons, Windham and Taylor, both went into pro wrestling as well; they also have a daughter, Mika.

Windham Rotunda, whose ring name was Bray Wyatt, died of a heart attack in his sleep on August 24, 2023.

“He was just a good boy. He was such a good person. Never got in trouble at all his whole life,” Barry Windham said of his late nephew.

Months after his son’s passing, Rotunda said it had been “really hard” without Wyatt and “we miss him every day.”

“[My kids] would come with me and stay on the road, wherever I was wrestling … and it’s so hard to wake up out of this nightmare and he’s still not there,” Rotunda added.

Mike Rotunda, a legend in his own right.

The elder Rotunda is best known for his work in the ring as Irwin R. Shyster (I.R.S.) and Michael Wallstreet during the 1980s and 1990s. He was a five-time Tag Team champion, winning twice with his brother-in-law and The U.S. Express, and three times with Ted DiBiase and Money Inc.

Mike Rotunda had two stints in the WWE and also wrestled with WCW, NJPW, AJPW and IWA Japan.
