In what might be one of the worst kept secrets of 2025, Resident Evil fan favorite character Leon S. Kennedy has been leaked to be making an appearance (likely playable) in the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem.
The leak comes from the official PlayStation Store, which now has new key art depicting newcomer Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Resident Evil Outbreak‘s Alyssa Ashcroft, along with Leon. The leak was originally discovered by YouTube content creator Bluewav, who posted a video showing himself pre-ordering RE Requiem on the PlayStation Store and noted that the key art present with the purchase is now different than previously released cover art, with Leon taking a huge spot on the top of the art.
Leon appears to have a beard and is much older than his previous appearances in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 6. Requiem takes place in both 2020 and then presumably in 2028, 30 years after the Raccoon City Incident. Previously, gameplay footage was released showing Grace and Alyssa escaping a hotel together, which leads to Alyssa’s apparent death. The story then picks up years later, as Grace, now an FBI Analyst, is tasked with returning to the site of her mother’s demise.
It’s not yet confirmed how Leon will factor into all of this, but given Capcom’s secrecy regarding Requiem, it’s reasonable to assume his role will be rather large. It’s also not yet confirmed if he is playable, but previous leaks by insider Dusk Golem on X have suggested he will “co-star” with Grace in the game and is indeed playable.
Dusk Golem has also stated that there will be an official Leon Kennedy reveal trailer later this week at The Game Awards. Resident Evil Requiem has been confirmed to be making an appearance at the show previously by the official Game Awards social accounts.
Capcom has not made any official statements regarding this leak, as of this writing.
Resident Evil Requiem is set for release on February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
