The hype surrounding the upcoming film release One Battle After Another has continued to increase, and ahead of its Sept. 26 release, the interest hit new levels thanks to the Los Angeles premiere on Monday, Sept. 8. The loaded cast, featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn, Regina Hall and Benicio Del Toro, is enough to draw fans in, but from the recent comments made by some who have seen it, it’s truly the film itself that’ll have you locked in for the ride.
DiCaprio in the leading role is always noteworthy, as it seems apparent that he has a specific approach to selecting the film roles he does. However, his comments on One Battle After Another and specifically, director Paul Thomas Anderson, at the Los Angeles premiere were incredibly telling. There was also some impressively high praise from DiCaprio for Anderson, which should also go a long way toward sending fan interest sky high.
Leonardo DiCaprio Admits He Would Have Done ‘Any Movie’ Paul Thomas Anderson Pitched
It’s one thing to receive praise from critics and fans. But when it’s an actor as wildly popular as DiCaprio, the comments pull serious weight. That was the case when DiCaprio spoke about Anderson, and as Variety revealed, the 50-year-old actor admitted he would have “done any movie” Anderson proposed.
“Anytime you get somebody that’s really trying to do a massive spectacle-odyssey, that is such a unique filmmaker like Paul, you have to jump at the opportunity,” he said. “To tell you the truth, I would’ve done any movie that he proposed, because he’s that unique and interesting of a filmmaker and that great. But I’m glad I got to do this one.”
DiCaprio’s role in the film is certainly enough to put the movie on the radar of most fans, but comments like this highlight that the director/lead actor duo is one that gives One Battle After Another a real shot at being a box office juggernaut. It obviously doesn’t hurt that Anderson put together a stellar cast along with DiCaprio, for a movie that’s bound to feature a great mixture of comedy, action and adventure.
One Battle After Another is based on the 1990 novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, and features a washed-up revolutionary named Bob (DiCaprio) who lives off-grid with his self-reliant daughter, Willa. After a long-time nemesis of Bob resurfaces, Willa goes missing, and the action is sure to intensify quickly from that point on.
