There’s been no shortage of praise coming from Leonardo DiCaprio ahead of the release of his latest high-profile movie. The 50-year-old actor has specifically raved about the One Battle After Another director, Paul Thomas Anderson. While DiCaprio is undoubtedly thrilled to have worked with Anderson on the film, which hits theaters on Sept. 26, it was a “what’s next” question that drew another interesting response.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonightat the Los Angeles premiere of One Battle After Another, DiCaprio was asked if there’s anything specific he’s got his “eye on” next regarding a future film.
Leonardo DiCaprio Eyeing ‘Dream’ Opportunity to Work With Martin Scorsese Again
DiCaprio’s response to what he hopes lies ahead was interesting, especially considering he was quick to answer. The 50-year-old actor admitted that it would be a “dream come true” getting to work with Martin Scorsese again.
“To me, always, working with Marty [Martin Scorsese] again is the ultimate gift,” DiCaprio said. “He is a national treasure and the world’s greatest director. So, if I get another opportunity to do that again, that would be a dream come true.”
It’s not at all surprising to hear this from DiCaprio, as he and Scorsese have had tremendous success together. The duo has worked together on six feature films and one short film since 2002. This includes an 11-year stretch from 2002 to 2013, in which they released five movies: Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010) and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).
Leonardo DiCaprio May Get His Wish Sooner Than Later
Whether DiCaprio was teasing what’s ahead or looking forward to the likelihood of a reunion with Scorsese is unknown, but it’s worth noting that the duo has already been linked to another movie. As Deadline first reported in January 2025, DiCaprio and Scorsese were in talks to bring the long-awaited film adaptation, The Devil in the White City, to the big screen.
The story is based on Erik Larson’s bestselling nonfiction book Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America, which follows Dr. HH Holmes, a serial killer who is believed to have murdered anywhere from 27 to 200 people during the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago.
Per Deadline, DiCaprio and his Appian Way Productions acquired the rights to the book in 2010. The adaptation has gone through several stages of development, with Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner’s deal with Paramount, but the option lapsed in 2004, as Variety detailed. Paramount reacquired the rights in 2007, and the latest plan for a series adaptation was at Hulu with director Todd Field and Keanu Reeves, which was ultimately scrapped in 2023.
