Less than a thousand aid trucks have entered Gaza since the start of the ceasefire news

The government media office in the Gaza Strip said that only 986 aid trucks had entered the Strip since the ceasefire took effect, out of 6,600 trucks that were supposed to enter as of Monday evening, according to the agreement.

The office confirmed in a statement – today, Tuesday – that “the average number of trucks entering the Gaza Strip daily since the ceasefire took effect does not exceed only 89 trucks, out of 600 trucks that are supposed to enter daily.”

He explained that among the trucks that entered the Strip were 14 cooking gas trucks and 28 diesel trucks.

He believed that this “reflects the continuation of the policy of suffocation, starvation, and humanitarian blackmail practiced by the occupation against more than two million and 400 thousand citizens in Gaza.”

The government office stressed that these limited quantities arriving in the Gaza Strip “do not cover the minimum humanitarian and living needs,” and reiterated the Gaza Strip’s urgent need for “a regular flow of at least 600 aid trucks per day, including food, medical and relief supplies, operating fuel, and cooking gas, to ensure the minimum necessities of life.”

For its part, the World Food Program confirmed that the supplies entering Gaza so far are sufficient for nearly half a million people for two weeks, and said that aid does not reach Gaza at the required level in light of Israel not allowing the opening of all crossings into the Strip.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation forces resumed bringing aid into the Gaza Strip yesterday, Monday, through the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south of the Strip and the Kissufim crossing in the center of the Strip. This came after a bloody day that witnessed Israeli raids on several areas in the Gaza Strip.

Despite the resumption of the entry of aid, the occupation forces insist on closing the Rafah crossing, and not allowing the sick and wounded to travel or the return of the stranded.

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem accused Israel of exploiting “the aid file to blackmail the political situation while threatening starvation again.”

Thousands of Palestinians are still queuing in hospices to get meals, hoping that the occupation will allow the entry of foodstuffs that have been prohibited for several months, such as meat and poultry.

According to the World Food Programme, nearly a third of families in the Gaza Strip are deprived of meals for consecutive days.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported that 39% of the Gaza Strip’s population do not eat for days, and that 320,000 children under the age of five are at risk of acute malnutrition. In addition, 290,000 children under the age of five, and 150,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women, need nutrition and supplements.

In conjunction with the genocidal war it launched against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, Israel committed a systematic starvation policy in the Strip, causing the loss of the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.
