Lily Allen has gone public with a new partner nearly a year after her split from husband David Harbour was revealed.
After four years of marriage, the 40-year-old British singer split from the Stranger Things star, 50, in late 2024.
Following intense speculation that their marriage breakdown was attributed to infidelity on the actor’s part, Lily dropped her bombshell break-up album West End Girl in October, in which she accused him of breaking the rules of their open marriage and carrying out an affair with a woman she dubbed ‘Madeline’.
Not long after Lily was asked about eventually getting back into dating, saying she was: ‘Not really looking to go out with another famous person.’
The following month she was spotted enjoying a romantic dinner with Jonah Freud, 28, the great-great-grandson of neurologist Sigmund Freud and nephew of painter Lucien Freud. They were then snapped kissing at a Christmas party she threw last month.
A few months on the pair have now enjoyed a romantic holiday in Rome. This week they enjoyed a getaway to the Italian capital, staying in a premier suite at the Hotel Locarno, which costs around £800 a night.
A passer-by who saw the pair told The Sun: ‘We walked past her and it was my daughter-in-law who recognised her and went, “Oh my God, it’s Lily Allen”.’
‘We did a double take, and it was definitely her.
‘She was with Jonah Freud. They were just having a coffee and a cigarette together.’
A few days later Lily and Allen then attended an afterparty for Valentino during Paris Fashion Week.
They were seen leaving Le Bristol Hotel in the French capital on Wednesday evening, making their way to the star-studded party which was also attended by Dakota Johnson and Kirsten Dunst.
Lily wore a grey coat with a green fur scarf for the party, with her hair in a beehive style.
During their trip to Paris, the pair also went shopping at the luxury clothing store The Row with actor Austin Butler.
Lily and Jonah were first linked publicly after attending an Oasis party at the Chiltern Firehouse in London in September last year.
Two months later they were seen kissing during her Christmas party at Stringfellow’s in London.
Who is Jonah Freud?
Jonah’s father is Matthew Freud, a British entrepreneur and the founder of Freud Communications, an international PR firm. His mother Caroline Hutton is an aristocrat and the ex-wife of Princess Diana’s brother, Charles Spencer.
Meanwhile his grandmother Jill was a famous actor, his grandfather Sir Clement Raphael was a politician and broadcaster, and his aunt Emma is a TV presenter.
His great-great-grandfather was Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud.
Not much is known about Jonah himself, who has private social media accounts. However he does own the London bookshop Reference Point – a library, bookstore, and bar all in one, which also offer art collections, rare books, and other specialised titles.
What has Lily said about her relationship status?
When West End Girl dropped, Lily didn’t hold back with her songs, which covered topics ranging from open marriages to cheating to sex addiction as she detailed her turbulent four-year marriage to David.
The same month it was released Lily – who is the mum to Ethel, 14, and Marnie, 12 – confirmed she was ‘not in a relationship’ right now, also sharing her thoughts on online dating.
Discussing dating apps, she shared: ‘They’re awful, especially if you’re going through heartbreak. There is nothing more depressing than hundreds of people that are nothing like the person that you’re missing.
‘It’s just like, “No, that’s not him. That’s not him. That’s not him.”.’
As for the type of person she is looking for, she added to Interview Magazine: ‘I’m not really looking to go out with another famous person.’
She also revealed she had been banned from Hinge after it was assumed she was running a fake account.
When asked about whether she was ‘maybe dating someone’, she replied: ‘I’m not in a relationship, but there are some people that I meet up with.’
Lily also explained how she now felt towards her ex-husband. ‘At the time, I was really trying to process things and that’s great in terms of the album, but I don’t feel confused or angry now. I don’t need revenge,’ she said.
In an interview with Perfect Magazine around the same time, she also reflected on the difficulties of returning to dating aged 40.
‘The dating scene is much harder as a 40-year-old woman with two teenage children than it is for a 34-year-old woman. It’s bitterly disappointing,’ she said.
‘There’s an element of humiliation and shame around it. The world doesn’t portray women of my age as being desirable. And it just feels like climbing up a mountain.
‘But also, at the same time, I’m like, I don’t have to get involved with it. But something in me says that I do.’
