South Africa’s Tete Dijana is well on course for his third ‘down run’ victory in the Comrades Marathon.
Dijana, 37, won the race in 2022 and 2023.
Meanwhile, Gerda Steyn is cruising to a third consecutive title – and a fourth overall.
The iconic race got underway at 05:30 on Sunday at the City Hall in Pietermaritzburg and will finish at People’s Park outside Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium.
This year’s race, the 98th of all time, covered 89.98km.
