A visitor says she was revolted after spotting a condom frozen in an ice rink in Kent.

Katrina Rattray had been at the winter wonderland at Calverley Grounds in Tunbridge Wells when she discovered the condom with her husband.

Each December and early January, the town centre park is transformed with festive food stalls and a large ice rink.

Katrina had been visiting the venue with her partner, Mitchell, when the pair decided to take a look at the rink before heading home.

‘To our horror, he spotted the condom in the ice,’ she recalled.

‘I don’t know if a teenager put it there as a joke or if it was actually used, but imagine if a child fell over in the spot. It was quite disgusting and weird how the staff had not noticed it.’

Families looking to experience holiday cheer should be on the lookout this year – many have been falling for AI Christmas market scams.

Fake images of a pop-up Christmas market at Buckingham Palace duped many into making the trek, only to be disappointed by puddles and pigeons.

Londoner James BJ, 36, who went to visit the ‘market’, told Metro: ‘It was a complete waste of time. It was dark, cold and nothing was there.’

Why are people falling for it, and who started the rumour in the first place?

Buckingham Palace did indeed announce a Christmas shop but it is in the Mews. The Mews itself is open all year round selling Buckingham Palace tea towels and mugs.

The Royal Collection Trust told Metro: ‘The Royal Mews Christmas Shop is a pop-up shop selling Royal Collection Trust festive products within the existing Royal Mews shop space. There will not be a Christmas market at Buckingham Palace.’
