Lottery Winner Running Out of Time To Claim $100,000 Ticket

Someone has a winning lottery ticket worth $100,000, but time is running out to claim the prize.

The winning lottery ticket is from the Feb. 26 Easy 5 drawing and was sold at Adams Grocery in Louisiana, which is located at 41245 Highway 23 in Buras.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 13, 27, 28, 30, and 31. The odds of hitting on all five numbers are 1 in 435,897.

Easy 5 winners in Louisiana have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize. That sets the deadline at Aug. 25, meaning there is less than two weeks to claim the prize as of this writing.

Because the ticket is worth more than $600, the unknown winner must go to one of the Louisiana Lottery’s five regional offices or its headquarters to cash it in.

“We look forward to the winner coming to claim this prize,” said Louisiana Lottery President Rose Hudson, per Aaron Gonsoulin of the Lafayette Daily Advertiser. “In the meantime, the individual should treat the ticket as cash. It is also a good idea to sign the back of the ticket for security purposes.”

If the ticket goes unclaimed past the deadline, the winnings will be moved into the Louisiana Lottery’s unclaimed prize fund, where it will be used to boost scratch-off payouts and special player promotions.

That isn’t the only unclaimed Easy 5 winner in Louisiana set to expire. One person won $60,000 in the March 5 drawing and has until Sept. 1 to claim the prize. That ticket was sold at Delta Mini Mart in Farmerville.
