Love Is Blind’s Anton has finally addressed his ‘heavy’ drinking, and he has a lot to say – Bundlezy

Love Is Blind’s Anton has finally addressed his ‘heavy’ drinking, and he has a lot to say

Anton from Love Is Blind caused concern during the season for his “excessive” drinking, and he’s finally spoken about it in a new statement shared across his socials.

One of Ali and Anton’s biggest disagreements was over Anton’s drinking habits. In one argument, Ali called out Anton for finishing eight cans of beer and half a bottle of tequila by himself. She also opened up to the other Love Is Blind girls, telling them he had a couple of drinks every morning after his night shift and it made her uncomfortable.

In a new TikTok, Anton said he is not an alcoholic.

“But, was I drinking more during filming, more than regular life? Yeah, I was,” he said. “I think that’s due to nerves and the whole experience being very nerve-racking.”

When getting to know Ali in the pods, Anton explained he used to be a huge party guy and would go out with his best friend Joe. He told her he’d “matured” and stepped away from this behaviour. In his TikTok, Anton said even though he doesn’t believe he’s an alcoholic, he can admit his drinking was an unhealthy coping mechanism.

“I just want to point out that I do take accountability for that. I think that’s not a healthy way of dealing with nerve-racking situations, you know?” he said.

He continued: “Alcoholic, alcoholism, I can see how it can look that way. But you guys have to remember, this is four weeks of our lives, that is condensed into hours of camera time, that you guys have seen. To throw the word alcoholic around, I think, is reckless. You’re minimising the struggle of people who are dealing with genuine alcoholism or alcohol dependancy.”

The comments are full of support from Love Is Blind viewers, and one from Joe, who also got in trouble for his heavy drinking in season nine.

“Imagine getting drunk on reality TV,” Joe commented.

“That would be a first,” Anton replied.
