One lucky EuroMillions player from Ireland has won the €250 million (£208 million) jackpot – the biggest ever prize for a single ticket holder.
It dwarfs the previous record prize there, which was €175 million in February 2019.
Cian Murphy, Ireland’s National Lottery chief executive, has urged punters to check their tickets and warned the winner to ‘keep it safe’.
He added: ‘While this is a massive win, it can come as a shock to a winner and we advise them to stay calm, get independent legal and financial advice and contact us as soon as they can.’
The EuroMillions jackpot is capped once it reaches 250 million euros – or £208 million.
This jackpot reached the maximum amount on Friday June 6.

The last Irish winner of the EuroMillions jackpot was in February 2022, when a person won €30.9 million with a quick pick ticket they purchased at a service station in Ballina, Co Tipperary.
