Last month, country music star Luke Bryan was hit in the head with an object while performing at the North Dakota State Fair, and he is now speaking out about it.
During the performance of his hit song “Country Girl” at the concert last month, Bryan was hit in the face with an object that appeared to be thrown from the crowd.
Bryan finished the song before ending the concert after the incident. Now, he has addressed the incident in a recent interview.
Luke Bryan Hit in the Face
While performing his hit song, Bryan was struck in the face by what appeared to be a small plastic beach ball.
While the country music star did not appear to be harmed in any way, he was clearly surprised and startled by the incident, causing him to pause his performance of the song briefly before he continued.
Bryan did finish the song, but that turned out to be the final song of the concert. It’s not clear whether or not this was influenced by the incident.
The person who threw the object was never identified and no charges were filed.
Video of the Incident
The incident quickly went viral on social media as the video was re-shared by fans on all platforms.
Bryan Speaks Calls Out ‘Idiot’ Fans
The country music superstar did not say much about the incident at the time, but he had some strong words during a recent podcast appearance where he called out the “idiots” who throw things at artists.
“My official statement is people throw things at artists and they’re idiots,” Bryan said during an appearance on the Bobby Bones Show this week. “It’s the deterioration of the moral fabric of how your [behind] ought to act.”
Bryan made it clear that the object didn’t exactly pose a threat, but he obviously was not prepared for it.
“It was this little beach ball thing, like a hacky sack,” he remembered. “When I’m sitting there singing, and I’m just doing my deal, and it comes into my frame, obviously I flinched. It got me.”
Bryan went on to explain that the “most frustrating thing” was exaggeration of the incident by his family members.
“But then the problem with it is, is then it makes all of my family members and friends that don’t have all the social media to go watch what actually happened, then they call me and then it turns into I got hit by, like I said, a baseball,” Bryan continued.
