Luxury Watches Stolen During F1 Weekend in Organized Crime Spree, Lawsuit Claims

Wealthy F1 fans were targeted in a crime spree during the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, over the weekend, according to a new lawsuit.

A 39-year-old woman was arrested and accused of working with a group of men to steal two Richard Mille watches, Austin Police Department said, calling it an organized crime.

The woman would allegedly pretend to fall and, when the victim would offer his hand to help her back up, she would steal his watch.

“The group targeted wealthy individuals that were wearing high-end luxury watches,” court documents said, according to KXAN. “These specific watches retail for hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

The woman was caught after one victim witnessed her pulling the same scheme on another person at Circuit of the Americas.

The group was reportedly staying in an Airbnb in Lago Vista, about an hour west of the race track.
