M60 closed after serious crash on motorway

A stretch of the M60 has closed after a serious crash on the busy motorway.

The M60 is closed to traffic anticlockwise between junction J25 Bredbury and J24 Denton after a collision.

Drivers were warned to expect severe delays in the area, with traffic backing up past Stockport and to junction 1 A34 to south Manchester.

An air ambulance landed on the clockwise carriageway, which briefly closed all the lanes.

National Highways said: ‘The M60 in Greater Manchester is closed anti-clockwise between J25 (Bredbury) and J24 (Denton) following a serious collision.

‘Emergency services including Greater Manchester Police are in attendance. National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene assisting with traffic management.

‘Please plan ahead if travelling in the area this afternoon.’

Diversions have been put in place for traffic, with motorists going anticlockwise advised to follow solid circle symbols on road signs.
