Hollyoaks spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (August 5) episode that is now available to view on Channel 4 streaming. The episode in question will air on E4 on at 7pm.

Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) has struck again, with a huge twist seeing Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) become his latest victim.

Robbie, as viewers know, was held captive by Grace Black (Tamara Wall) for months after the gangster came to believe that her brother-in-law was an informant working for the police.

He was subsequently freed from captivity and resolved to leave the village, bidding farewell to his loved ones – but it was soon revealed that, despite his apparent departure, he’d been taken prisoner by Jez, who held him captive in the shed.

Jez has been using Robbie as a therapist of sorts, confiding his deepest, darkest secrets in the former nightclub owner.

Despite his refusal to set Robbie free, the deranged gardener ultimately decided that he wanted to be a better person after chat with Sienna (Anna Passey) and thus he allowed Robbie to walk, believing he’d have a chance to reunite with Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence), who had been trying to get in touch with Robbie.

Robbie made a beeline to the village in search of Vicky and upon setting his sights on her, he walked into her line of sight. Vicky, however, could not see him and, in a bone-chilling twist, she walked through Robbie, who subsequently vanished.

Much like viewers had suspected, Robbie was simply a figment of Jez’s imagination, with a twisted flashback confirming that the Roscoe had been murdered by Jez shortly after his capture.

Sienna, meanwhile, had been given reason to suspect that there was more to Jez’s lies than meets the eye and, after being tipped off by an unsuspecting Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) about Dilly’s (Emma Johnsey-Smith) alleged role in the murder of Ian Stone, she made it her mission to dig up the truth.

No, literally.

In high-octane scenes, helmed by a superb performance from star Anna Passey, Sienna’s entire world imploded as she uncovered Jez’s secrets, realising that he was to blame for the deaths of Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) and Robbie Roscoe.

The former high school teacher sobbed her heart out as she came to realise that her newfound dad was an evil serial killer.

The question is: can she bring him to justice? And will word of Robbie’s murder reach the village?

Fans had suspected that there was more to Robbie’s incarceration at Jez’s hands than meets the eye when the former Loft owner appeared rather unfazed by his kidnapping – especially given how much his previous captivity ordeal impacted his mental health.

What’s more, there was also the fact that Robbie was seemingly left unattended in the allotment shed for weeks while Jez jetted off on holiday – and his failure to call for help when various characters explored the allotment during Jez’s absence.

The flashback in Wednesday’s episode appears to indicate that Robbie was long dead by the time the aforementioned scenes unfolded, meaning that Jez has been hallucinating this whole time.
