Mamelodi Sundowns have set their sights on TS Galaxy and Bafana Bafana defender Khulumani Ndamane, aiming to secure the 21-year-old ahead of the 2025/2026 season. After an impressive breakthrough campaign, Ndamane has become one of the most sought-after young talents in South African football.
The highly-rated left-footed defender joined TS Galaxy from Kaizer Chiefs last year, having previously shone in the DStv Diski Challenge. However, Chiefs never promoted him to the first team, a decision now under scrutiny after his meteoric rise.
From development squad to Bafana debut
Since his move to Galaxy, Ndamane has started 27 matches, missing only six across all competitions. His consistent performances earned him a senior debut for Bafana Bafana in the recent 0-0 draw against Tanzania at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Bafana head coach Hugo Broos heaped praise on the youngster, saying: “He has a massive future ahead. As a left-footed defender, he shows composure, aerial strength and the physical presence required to succeed at the highest level.”
Euro interest snubbed as local giants in the hunt
Ndamane’s towering frame and versatility have not gone unnoticed abroad. Romanian giants FCSB, who currently have Siyabonga Ngezana on their books, made an approach for a loan with an option to buy. However, sources confirmed that the proposal was turned down.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns closely monitored developments. As it stands, discussions between Sundowns and TS Galaxy continue, with the possibility of a loan return to Galaxy still on the table – though increasingly unlikely.
Sundowns view Ndamane as a long-term fix for the left side of their defence. Their previous gamble on Lucas Suarez ended in disappointment, with the Argentine heading back to South America after failing to impress.
Galaxy preparing for another major exit?
Galaxy are bracing themselves for yet another key departure in this transfer window, having already lost Lebone Seema to Pirates. Following their record fifth-place finish last season, the Rockets look set for a significant squad overhaul.
The chase for Khulumani Ndamane may signal the start of their reshaping. And fans will be watching closely to see whether Masandawana can land one of Mzansi’s most exciting young defenders.
