Earlier this week, a “macabre” teddy bear made of what appeared to be human skin was left at a convenience store and petrol station in California.
The bear, which was conveniently abandoned at an AMPM convenience store on Bear Valley Road in Victorville, was made from a material resembling human skin. It came complete with messy stitching and smears of blood, with the nose being distinctly human-like.
Such creations have been seen in film and TV for years, from Zachary Quinto’s character in American Horror Story to The Silence of the Lambs. For that reason, locals allegedly believed a serial killer was at large, according to the BBC.

Police recieved the call on Sunday when “a doll that was possibly made of human skin” was spotted by concerned locals. However, it was soon revealed to be fake as the “doll was made of a fabricated material and was not of human origin.”
“The doll was brought to the San Bernardino Coroner’s facility. Forensic Pathologist, Dr. M. Phan-Tang, confirmed that the object was not human and contained no human tissue,” San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “Our investigation found these dolls being sold on a website with the claim that the dolls are ‘made of human skin.”

A man called Hector was arrested for the human skin teddy bear prank
On Monday, 23-year-old Hector Corona Villanueva was arrested by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for planting phoney evidence and causing an emergency response.
“Incidents such as this take up valuable emergency resources and put the public at risk, possibly delaying response time to legitimate calls for service,” the police said in another statement.
“We would like to thank those who reported information that was helpful during the investigation of this case.”
The maker of the human skin teddy bear was also revealed as Robert Kelly from Dark Seed Creations. His company, based in South Carolina, largely makes special effects designs made of latex.
