Man Saves Boy Who Walked on Pennsylvania Amusement Park Monorail Tracks in ‘Frightening’ Video

A viral video shows a young boy walking on monorail tracks at an amusement park named Hersheypark in Pennsylvania.

“Stop!” terrified onlookers shouted at the boy as he strolled on the monorail’s tracks. “Keep walking,” yelled another person.

However, the story had a good ending, as a man helped save the boy, a dramatic scene that was also captured in the video. “Eventually, a park guest climbed onto the rail to rescue the boy,” ABC 6 reported.

Hersheypark is an amusement park in Hershey, PA, which was initially created for chocolate factory workers.

“Hersheyparkamusement park was originally created by Milton S. Hershey as leisure grounds for employees of Hershey’s Chocolate Factory,” the park’s website says.

“Today, our family amusement park in Central Pennsylvania, complete with 15 thrilling roller coasters & a larger-than-life water park,” it adds.

The Boy Was Reported Missing by His Parents, Reports Say

According to ABC 6, the boy was reported missing just after 5 p.m. on Aug. 30 “after becoming separated from his parents.”

Crews were searching for the boy when he “entered a secure area for the monorail ride,” which was closed and “safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile,” the station reported. It’s not clear how the child surpassed those protections.

According to NBC Philadelphia, the crowds urged the boy “to walk to a nearby roof, where a man was waiting for him.” The boy was not injured, and the man was able to save him, the television station confirmed.

“We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark,” the park’s spokesperson told WGAL-TV, which reported that police were not called. The boy was in the secured area for about 20 minutes before walking briefly on the monorail’s tracks, WGAL-TV reported.
