Bruno Fernandes’ representatives have met with officials from another Saudi side over a potential move away from Manchester United this summer.

The United captain was targeted by Al-Hilal earlier in the summer transfer window who were prepared to hand him a staggering contract worth £200million over three seasons.

United were also set to bank a fee of £100m only for the Portugal international to reject the move.

Another Saudi Pro League side in Al-Ittihad are now making attempt to lure him away from Old Trafford.

The Sun report talks between the Saudi giants and Fernandes’ representatives have already taken place, talks that have been described as ‘positive’.

The report adds Fernandes will consider the move if Al-Ittihad are prepared to offer him a contract worth £33million-a-year.

Doubt hung over Fernandes’ future at United in June with the midfielder admitting he would be prepared to leave the club if United told him he was no longer needed.

‘I spoke to coach [Ruben] Amorim and he asked me not to go. My wife asked me what I wanted to do,’ Fernandes said.

‘It would have been easy to move there as I know the Portuguese players there very well, but I want to play at the highest level and compete for major titles.

‘Manchester United didn’t want to sell me. They don’t need the money,’ he added.

‘If I had wanted to leave, they would have made it happen.’

United have been able to spend close to £200m despite no major outgoings this summer with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko joining the club.

Those additions in attack are likely to see Fernandes occupy a deeper midfield role this season, one he took up against Arsenal in the opening game of the season last Sunday.

It is an area of the pitch United are still seeking to improve before the summer transfer window closes on 1 September.

Carlos Baleba is the club’s first choice target but Brighton are determined not to sell this summer, setting a huge asking price in excess of £100m.
