Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has been told to reject a £38m move to Inter Milan in favour of joining another Premier League club.

Hojlund has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford following his disappointing 2024-25 campaign.

The Denmark international enjoyed a promising first season at United following a £72m move from Atalanta, scoring a respectable 16 goals in all competitions.

But Hojlund went backwards last season, only contributing four goals in 32 Premier League appearances.

Despite his struggles, Inter Milan are keen to bring Hojlund back to Italy this summer and have held talks with both the player and his club over a move.

Hojlund is believed to be open to the switch but Manchester United are holding out for £38m, a transfer fee Inter have so far shown a reluctance to meet.

The 22-year-old’s openness to return to Serie A stems partly from the his lack of development at Old Trafford but also as United are expected to sign a new No. 9 this summer.

Ruben Amorim was keen to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town before he made a £30m move to Chelsea and remains interested in a deal for his former Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres.

A summer move for Hojlund could therefore benefit all parties and the Dane has been told he could revive his career on loan at United’s Premier League rivals Everton.

Like Amorim, Toffees boss David Moyes has also drawn up a list of potential striker targets as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has reportedly decided to leave the club.

Calvert-Lewin, 28, has been at Goodison Park for almost a decade, making over 250 appearances for the club and scoring 71 goals.

Everton could use the loan market to bolster Moyes’ attacking options and former Toffees winger Pat Nevin believes Hojlund would be the ‘perfect match’ for his former club.

‘Rasmus Hojlund perfect for David Moyes’ Everton’

‘There are some good names out there,’ Nevin, who played for Everton in the late 1980s and early 1990s, told Spin Genie.

‘The loan market is something Everton have looked at in the past and I think it’s something they should revisit again. It gives them all sorts of possibilities as they’re not spending £50m.

‘There are two or three players that they could think about bringing in from Manchester United but Rasmus Hojlund is the one that sticks out.

‘If you look at his style of play, it’s a perfect match with how David Moyes likes to play. While his numbers haven’t been great this season, Moyes loves hard workers and that’s something you can never complain about in regards to Hojlund.

‘It’s not very often David Moyes has had a 20-30 goals-per-season striker. He’s had strikers who run in behind and create space to bring others into play, so, if he’s available, Hojlund could be a tempting option for Everton to sign on loan.’

Manchester United made Wolves playmaker Matheus Cunha their first summer signing and are currently working on a deal for Bryan Mbeumo.

Amorim is desperate for significant investment after the Red Devils finished an embarrassing 15th in the Premier League last season.
