Axel Tuanzebe is suing his former club Manchester United over ‘clinical negligence’ during his time with the Red Devils.

The Telegraph report that Tuanzebe has lodged a legal claim at the High Court over ‘medical advice’ he received during his time with Manchester United.

The 27-year-old came through the youth ranks at Manchester United after joining the club at eight years old.

He made his senior debut in 2015 and went on to play 37 times in all competitions for the first team before a permanent departure in 2023.

The defender went out on loan spells to Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke from Old Trafford, before leaving permanently and signing for Ipswich.

That move proved successful as he helped the Tractor Boys get promoted to the Premier League, but after their relegation last season he left and has since signed for Burnley.

While it has been a good career so far for the DR Congo international, it has been heavily impacted by injury.

As he turns 28 later this year, Tuanzebe has only made 135 appearances in all competitions in his club career.

He is now looking to take legal action against his first professional club, suggesting ‘clinical negligence’ from Manchester United impacted him negatively.

Tuanzebe signed for newly-promoted Burnley this season to continue his career in the Premier League.

‘It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point,’ he said last month.

‘It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.’

The Clarets have also signed Kyle Walker, Quilindschy Hartman, Max Weiss and Loum Tchaouna so far this summer, with manager Scott Parker pleased with the business.

‘We’ve brought in some very good players, and good business with that as well,’ said Parker. ‘Hopefully there is some more to come, and we can keep developing and pushing.

‘I’m delighted with the business we’ve done so far.’
