Detectives have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a sexual assault on a teenage girl on a bus in west London.

Officers were scrambled as the vehicle pulled into a stop outside the Treaty shopping centre in Hounslow at about 5.10pm on August 16.

The bus driver reported that a man had sexually assaulted the girl on the 235 service before getting off in Feltham.

The man police want to find has dark wavy hair and was wearing sunglasses, a light coloured t-shirt with a print on the back, and shorts. He was carrying a backpack.

A police statement said: ‘Police were called following reports a 17-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on the 235 bus travelling from Hounslow to Sunbury.’

No arrests have been made, the Met added.

PC Stephanie Gillard from the Met’s transport team said: ‘This is a highly disturbing incident for a young woman to go through. Women should be able to travel alone without fear and we are dedicated to protecting women and girls.

‘If you were on the 235 bus route that day or have any mobile phone footage from around the time the victim boarded the bus at 16.59 then please call the police.’

Anyone who recognises the man in the image or witnessed the incident is asked to get in touch with police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
