Margot Robbie was the queen of the red carpet in London’s Leicester Square last night in a daring ‘naked’ dress at the premiere of her latest film.
The Barbie star, 35, braved the unpredictable September weather in a jaw-dropping sheer gown, covered in silver beadwork, from Giorgio Armani Privé’s spring 2025 couture collection.
Coming just days after the legendary designer’s death at 91, Robbie paid appropriate tribute to the designer with her eye-catching look as she celebrated the release of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey with co-star Colin Farrell.
The front of the column-shaped gown, which reached the floor even with Robbie in towering silver Aquazzura heels, featured a riot of patterned embellishments – including floral, paisley and lines – with a low scoop-neck and a design that showed off the actress and producer’s side boob.
But the big moment came when she turned to pose for pictures, revealing the dress’s spaghetti straps meeting in a big flower-shaped pendant at the centre of her bare back.
The garment also showed off the Wuthering Heights star’s bare bum and the tiny silver thong she wore underneath.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a romantic fantasy film, directed by Kogonada and also starring Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Kevin Kline.
It follows a pair of strangers, David (Farrell) and Sarah (Robbie), and the unimaginable journey that ties them together after meeting at a wedding, delving into their pasts together through a series of magical doors.
Oscar-nominee Farrell, 49, said he would ‘love to’ work with Robbie again, praising her for being ‘magic to work with, and to spend time with’.
‘There are actors in this film giving lovely performances in and around, but so much of this film is she and I just very close together. And with that in mind, the rehearsal process was just she and I and Kogonada in a room together for like a week and we didn’t even touch the scripts for the first three days,’ he told PA new agency on the carpet.
‘We just shot the breeze about our own lives and relationships and what it was like growing up with our families and our relationships with our parents and it wasn’t a therapy session but… she’s very open… and I’m fairly open as well.’
And Robbie wasn’t the only one embracing the continuing trend for sheer dressing either on Thursday night, as across the Atlantic in New York City, Materialists actress Dakota Johnson took to a star-studded carpet in a black number.
The Splitsville performer and producer, also 35, opted for a lace gown from Gucci with long sleeves, a high neck and a mini-train, which made a feature of the matching black satin underwear underneath the nude dress.
Johnson accessorised with green pendant earrings and a diamond necklace as she rubbed shoulders with the likes of Demi Moore, Jessica Chastain, Colman Domingo and Salma Hayek at Kering’s Caring for Women gala.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is released in UK and US cinemas on Friday, September 19.
