Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s new film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, has lost millions during it’s opening weekend.
The budget of the film was £33million ($45m), with the opening weekend managing only £5.9m ($8m) only.
This means the film is so far, down £27m, with the rest of its theatrical run in cinemas to claw back a hefty sum just to break even.
To put things in comparison, the 35-year-old’s last leading film, Barbie, had an estimated budget of $128-145m (£95m- 108m) and made $356.3m (£265.1m) during its opening weekend.
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is a romantic fantasy film, directed by Kogonada and also starring Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Kevin Kline, Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith and Billy Magnussen.
It follows a pair of strangers, David (Colin) and Sarah (Margot), and the unimaginable journey that ties them together after meeting at a wedding, delving into their pasts together through a series of magical doors.

However, the film has a 37% ranking on Rotten Tomatoes and has received mixed reviews to date, with one going so far as to call it ‘pretentious’.
‘There’s so much to make your toes curl that the film could well become a cringe classic. Everything about it is so gloriously and deliberately fake,’ said a review from The Sunday Times.
‘The stakes are just too low and the characters lack chemistry. Instead of passion, we get first-world complaints from people whose great woe is to be good-looking and lonely,’ said Entertainment Voice.
‘The refinement of Kogonada’s direction is never in question, but, paradoxically, it may make things worse. A less deft or more vulgar filmmaker might have endowed the formulaic emotions with an element of camp,’ said the New Yorker.
‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey tries to be too big and too bold, when it’s the smaller moments in which this film becomes a beautiful journey,’ Collider added.

While on the press tour for their new film, Margot stunned in a bejewelled naked dress while on the red carpet, and Colin made a bold admission that he was turned on by his co-star.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers he said: ‘So, I met people through the years that worked with Margot… and they all, [men and women], said how extraordinary she was.
‘Not just it’s obvious that she’s an incredible actress, but how kind and fun and “one of the team” she is. Which is always a turn-on for me…straight up!’
Reacting to the compliment, Margot jumped in and quipped: ‘You owe me 20 bucks later.’
A Big Bold Beautiful Journey is in cinemas now.
