Marvel fans already have plenty to look forward to in the coming year or so; with the release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, it’s going to be a busy second half of 2026. While the latest potential reboot may not come in 2026, it does sound like it’s possible sooner than later, at least according to the Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, Brad Winderbaum.
Following three seasons on Netflix from 2015 to 2019, the popular series Jessica Jones was ultimately canceled. Now, it’s sounding more and more like a comeback is on the horizon for the series, led by the original star Krysten Ritter. What could be next for the ex-superhero turned private investigator? We may not have to wait long to find out.
Marvel’s Brad Winderbaum & Krysten Ritter Fuel Hype of ‘Jessica Jones’ Reboot
Winderbaum dropped a pretty significant tidbit at New York Comic Con 2025. As Super Hero Hype highlighted, his appearance on the Phase Hero podcast was the first big sign that things were ready to move forward, as he reportedly stated that a “born again” project for Jessica Jones could be coming “sooner than you think.”
If that wasn’t enough to fan the flames of the show’s return, Ritter herself joined the Phase Hero episode after and confirmed Winderbaum’s statement.
“There’s a lot of stuff that I’ve felt there was room to explore, and Brad and I talked about it. And I am not going to say any of it, because we’re going to be doing it,” Jones reportedly said.
This would be a significant move, and we’ve already seen Marvel roll out Daredevil starring Charlie Cox. The upcoming Punisher show with Jon Bernthal is also slated for a 2026 release. The potential return of Jessica Jones would make plenty of sense, as the character is also slated to appear in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which returns in March 2026 on Disney+.
Another ‘Jessica Jones’ Report Surfaces, Signaling the Show’s Potential Comeback
While the comments from Winderbaum and Ritter are more than enough to believe something is on the horizon for the Jessica Jones series, another report recently surfaced, as Super Hero Hype detailed.
One longtime Marvel reporter on X, under the name MyTimeToShineHello, also reportedly stated that the company is already looking for writers for the future Jessica Jones project. This, of course, would make sense considering Winderbaum’s comments on something happening sooner than expected.
Jessica Jones earned high marks from critics and fans over its three-season run, with several popular review sites highlighting as much. The show holds an average rating of 83 percent from critics over three seasons on Rotten Tomatoes, with the fan score not far behind at 80 percent. Season 1 of Jessica Jones was a major hit, earning scores of 94 percent from critics (and a certified fresh rating) and 87 percent from fans.
Those noteworthy reviews were largely echoed on Metacritic, where Jessica Jones earned a consensus 76 percent mark from critics and a 7.6 out of 10 from fans. Similar to the responses on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 1 received the highest scores on Metacritic, with critics giving the show’s debut season an 81 percent rating, and fans offering a strong 8.1 out of 10.
While we’ll have to play the wait-and-see game on what lies ahead for the now-likely Jessica Jones return, it sounds as though there’s already been a lot of brainstorming for it.
