Marvel Rivals has been going strong for just over a year now, and the latest update, Season 5.5, will be coming to the game later this week, and there will be a lot of new content for fans to enjoy.
In a Season 5.5 video update, posted to the official Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, creative director for the game, Guangyun Chen, better known as Guang Guang, has revealed the planned additions to the popular Hero Shooter.
All ‘Marvel Rivals’ Season 5.5 Roster, Team-Up Changes
The biggest addition to Season 5.5 is the inclusion of Rogue as a new hero. Rogue has been confirmed to be a Vanguard character, with high health and the ability to steal enemy team powers. Her ultimate ability will also allow her to drain ultimate gauge from the other team, preventing some counter strategies. She has also been described as having “powerful melee abilities.”
Team-up abilities have also been adjusted. The Mental Projection team-up with Psylocke and Emma Frost is being removed. Emma Frost will be joining the Chilling Assault team-up composition with Luna Snow and Iron Fist.
Psylocke will join the Sword of Duality team-up with Hawkeye and Cloak & Dagger.
Finally, Rogue will join the Explosive Entanglement team-up with Gambit and Magneto.
‘Marvel Rivals’ Winter Event Returns with New Map
The winter event from last year, Jeff’s Winter Splash Festival, will be returning for a limited time on a new map called Jeffland. The event will begin December 18.
The event content has been adjusted, with players electing one of three different Jeff the Land Shark builds with unique skill sets.
‘Marvel Rivals’ Holiday Skins Confirmed
New cosmetics will also be available with the December 18 update. Squirrel Girl, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Winter Soldier have all been confirmed to be getting new holiday themed skins. Other winter skins will also be available for Penni Parker and Cloak & Dagger.
There will also be a Times Square location called PYM Test Kitchen, which will feature a Mystery Burger. Though, Guang Guang did not elaborate on what exactly it is. “Eat it, and you might be surprised by the results,” said Guang Guang.
Guang Guang concluded the updated by assuring fans that balance adjustments are still being finalized. If previous updates are anything to go by, we will likely get a Rogue gameplay trailer and balance change overview video later this week, before the update is live.
Season 5.5 of Marvel Rivals begins on Friday, December 12.
