In Empire’s Stranger Things 5 issue, co-creator Matt Duffer dropped exclusive details about Linda Hamilton’s much-anticipated character, who, up until now, has been shrouded in mystery.
Duffer Revealed Key Details of Hamilton’s Role
Duffer revealed that the iconic Terminator star will be playing the role of Dr. Kay, a government agent who’s been tasked with tracking down Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). While he stopped short of articulating any specific details about Dr. Kay, the implication seems to be that Hamilton will be playing this season’s primary antagonist. All of the other government agents who have pursued Eleven throughout the previous four series have been varying shades of nefarious.

“She’s hyper-intelligent and intimidating,” Duffer told the outlet. “She’s a scientist, but if she needs to, she can get into a fight and shoot a gun.”

Duffer Weighed In On Joseph Quinn’s Return
Elsewhere in the issue, Duffer put to rest a long-standing fan theory that Eddie Munson (Joseph Quinn) will return from the dead in Stranger Things 5. “I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people! But no, he’s dead,” Duffer said. “Joe is so busy, anyway, that everyone should know he’s not coming back. He’s shot, like, five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, R.I.P. He’s fully under that ground.” Well, how’s that for a definitive answer?
