When it comes time to finally pull the plug and buy a new car, there are far too many brands to pick from. Especially when they all claim to be the best, with the best mileage per tank, long-lasting engine, the best brake system, and every other bell and whistle. But which brand do mechanics suggest buying in 2025 when looking for a new car?
In a TikTok video that has gotten over six million views, the mechanics at Eich Brothers Automotive all agreed on one brand: Toyota (and even a Honda).
“Dude, anything Toyota, like literally anything Toyota,” said one mechanic. “The Tacomas are good. The Highlanders are good. I mean, dude, anything. If it has a Toyota logo or a Lexus logo on it, it’s good. Trust.”
Another mechanic thought the same, commenting, “Toyota. It’s gonna be Toyota. It’s pretty much always gonna be Toyota. Honda’s not a far second, but in terms of overall reliability and durability, you can’t beat Toyota.”
Other employees at the Eich Brothers Automotive agreed, saying Toyota Camrys are a good model to buy, as well as a Honda Civic or Honda Accord. One employee did think otherwise and felt the Dodge pickup truck is also a worthy new car to buy in 2025.
To end the video, another employee completely strayed away from what his coworkers thought. He admitted that it may be best not to buy a new car at all and is “so serious” about what he said.

Deciding on where to buy a new car from is never easy, with some people in the comments agreeing that Toyotas have proven to be a good car over the years, but can be a bit boring. One commenter said Toyotas are at the top of the list, but couldn’t help but understand that maybe new isn’t best.
“Mechanic here for 25 years. Own my own shop, I agree with the dude that says nothing. Toyota is still top for me but the new stuff isn’t great,” they said.
A few years ago, Toyota had a major recall on the Tundra model. It’s safe to say that no matter what brand of new car you buy, it can still be a gamble.
