Mexico assures that the relationship with Spain is active although it is still waiting for an apology for the conquest

The current president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured this Monday that his Government is still waiting for a response from the Spanish State to the letter that his former president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, sent requesting a formal apology for all the abuses committed during the conquest.

Even so, he wanted to emphasize that the relationship between both countries remains active, despite continuing waiting for a response to the letter since 2019.

“We have relations with Spain, no relationship has been broken. The Secretary of Culture recently went, the Secretary of Tourism went, that is, there are economic, political, tourist relations“There are relationships,” said the president during a press conference on Monday morning.
