This Wednesday, October 29, the Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development (Sader), Julio Berdegué, announced in “La Mañanera del pueblo” by President Claudia Sheinbaum, that after negotiations that ended during the early hours of the morning, an agreement was reached with farmers on the price per ton of corn. In the midst of their requests, the producers blocked roads in Jalisco, Michoacán and Guanajuato for more than 36 hours, and after this agreement they will gradually withdraw.
“Between the state governments and the federation we will add resources to provide support of 950 pesos per ton of corn”declared Julio Berdegué in the National Palace.
With this increase, farmers would receive 6,150 pesos per ton of corn and would wait for a negotiation with the industry to reach a higher price.
