Mitchum responds after users report ‘burning’ sensation and red rashes from deodorant use

Mitchum has released a statement after users have reported experiencing rashes from select Roll-On Deodorants.

Many people shared how use of the anti-perspirant left them with rashes, with some reporting being left with “infection” and “weeping spots” under their arms after using the product.

It was assumed that this was due to a change in the deodorant’s ingredients, however the brand has since confirmed to The Tab that this is not the case.

Some users online reported “burning” and “itching” sensations after using Mitchum Roll-On anti-perspirant, explaining how they originally believed the rash was due to chafe or other lifestyle factors.

One quick search on Tiktok shows this has been going on for over a month and I was totally oblivious to it… The marks have been awful, not only unbelievably painful but also embarrassing for people to see especially during holiday season 🙂 I don’t know the specifics of what has caused this to happen to so many thousands of people, but @mitchumuk @mitchum seriously need to do something about this!! #mitchum #mitchumdeodorant

One user on TikTok, Ellie, claimed: “I’ve been suffering really bad with chafing marks under my arms, I thought it was from running and it isn’t.

“The marks have been awful, not only unbelievably painful but also embarrassing for people to see especially during holiday season.”

Ellie explained that before identifying her deodorant as the cause, she “skipped runs and things like that because I’ve physically not been able to put my arm down because the pain’s been so bad.”

“They’re like chemical burns, AVOID. I hope they go out of business for the pain and trauma they’ve caused me.”

She, along with other TikTok users, assumed it was due to a change in the formula’s recipe, however Mitchum confirmed this to be untrue.

In a statement, a Mitchum spokesperson told The Tab how it “identified a change in the manufacturing process affecting one of our raw materials”, which has “impacted how the roll-on interacts with the skin of some users.”

Another user showed red rashes under each of her armpits, writing: “Mitchum deodorant, what have you done to the recipe? As a loyal user for seven years.”

A Mitchum spokesperson told The Tab: “We are aware of reports from some customers regarding reactions to select batches of Mitchum 48-hour 100ml Roll-On anti-perspirant and deodorant sold in the UK, Ireland and South Africa.

“No other products in our portfolio are impacted. Consumer wellbeing is always our priority, and we are truly sorry some of our customers have experienced temporary irritation. This is not the experience they expect from us.
