A Milwaukee Brewers fan has reportedly lost her job after being caught on camera telling a Latino Los Angeles Dodgers fan she was going to “call ICE” on him during Game 2 of the NLCS Tuesday night.
Shannon Kobylarczyk is “no longer with the organization,” her employer Manpower Group, a Milwaukee-based staffing company, confirmed to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Kobylarczyk reportedly also had to resign from her position on the board of directors at Make-A-Wish Wisconsin.
In the days since the encounter went viral, Kobylarczyk had been given the nickname “Brewers Karen” on social media.
What happened?
On Tuesday, a Dodgers fan named Ricardo Fosado shared video of himself taunting Brewers fans around him at American Family Field after Los Angeles took a 4-1 lead late in the game.
“Why is everyone so quiet?” Fosado asked, which prompted Kobylarczyk to jump in.
“Real men drink beer, you p—y,” she yells into the camera.
As Fosado continued to ask why everyone was silent, Kobylarczyk leaned toward the person in front of her and said “Ya know what, let’s call ICE.”
“Call ICE, call ICE. I’m a U.S. citizen, war veteran baby girl. Two wars. ICE is not going to do anything to me,” Fosado responded, laughing. “Good luck…Call ICE, call ’em. Call ’em. You f—–g idiot.”
Fosado also told the Journal Sentinel that after the incident, Kobylarczyk reported him to stadium security and he was escorted out of the facility.
Fosado forgives ‘Brewers Karen’
An American citizen of Mexican descent who was on a business trip to Chicago when he decided to attend the game, Fosado said he thinks Kobylarczyk “made a mistake.”
“I don’t think it was like horrible or something that should get her fired. I feel bad for her,” Fosado said. “We cannot be judged on one mistake and a lot of emotions were involved. It was just hurt feelings, nobody physically hurt anybody.”
Fosado also did not want to paint the entire Milwaukee crowd with a broad brush, saying he had a “great experience” at the game and “everybody was really friendly and welcoming.”
Game 3 of the NLCS is set for Thursday night. The Dodgers lead the series 2-0.
