Over the years, various livestreamers and well-known influencers have raked in large amounts of money to donate to charity through various methods. However, the feat accomplished by MrBeast, Adin Ross and xQc on Friday, Aug. 15, reset the bar for livestream fundraising.
After 18 hours, the trio had set the Guinness World Record for most money raised for charity on a stream, with their TeamWater livestream. The tally checked in at $12 million, surpassing the previous record of $11.97 million by Z Event in 2021.
MrBeast, Adin Ross & xQc Raised Money to Help Supply Clean Water to Those in Need
The online event initially kicked off as MrBeast’s first-ever Kick livestream, and the three intended to raise $5 million for TeamWater. But as The Wrap detailed, after they surpassed $5 million, the trio decided to continue into Friday morning and try to break the Guinness World Record for most money raised on a livestream.
After accomplishing the new goal on Friday morning, following an overwhelming amount of support from viewers, the final donation set the number at $12 million.

“Guys, that is 12 million years of clean water for people in need. Or put differently, that is clean water for hundreds of thousands of humans for decades each,” MrBeast explained.
Ross added: “I want to give a special shoutout to everyone watching; a part of this journey. You guys are all contributing these $10, it all adds up and you guys are actually contributing to an amazing cause.”
Many Big Names Donated to TeamWater on the Livestream
According to The Wrap, several people donated at least $1 million. This list includes LOVE Electrolyte, finnbags, Kick.com’s Ed Craven and Bijan Tehrani, influencer Sophie Rain and Trainwreckstv.
Other noteworthy names with high-dollar donations included Dana White, Michael Rubin, Brian Chesky and Gary Vee, among others.
It was Chesky, the co-founder of Airbnb, who called in the donation that officially put the tally over the top, setting a new world record. He donated $500,000 to the cause.
xQc broke the news on X with a post showing love to everyone who played a part.
“This went way bigger than we anticipated but we got it done. $12,000,000 raised for charity . Major thanks to everyone who showed up, watched, donated, participated, produced etc. Looking forward to seeing someone beat this record,” he wrote.
