MTV Cancels Longest-Running Comedy Series After 14 Years

With Paramount shutting down five MTV channels, it appears it’s also saying goodbye to some of its most popular series. TMZ has learned Rob Dydrek’s Ridiculousness has been cancelled, with the current season being its last.

According to inside sources, the announcement came from the very top of the network. The cast and crew were informed this week of the news, with Dydrek and the rest of the cast not yet commenting on the news on social media.

While Ridiculousness is saying goodbye, MTV will continue to air first-run episodes into 2026. The show’s cancellation means no new episodes will be produced or filmed.

The decision to cancel the comedy series comes on the heels of Paramount’s recent merger with Skydance. Not only has Paramount announced thousands of employee layoffs, but they plan to revamp and reimagine MTV with a fresh format and programming.

It was already announced that MTV would cease broadcasting five MTV UK channels on December 31. The channels include MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live.

Alongside Ridiculousness, it’s unclear what Paramount’s next move is with MTV programs in the U.S. Jon Stewart, who hosts The Daily Show on Comedy Central, has expressed his concerns over his late-night position following Paramount’s merger.

Dydrek has hosted the MTV series since its inception in 2011, alongside Steelo Brim and Lauren “Lolo” Wood appearing as co-hosts. It has produced and aired 46 seasons with a total of 1,689 episodes, including six TV specials.

Ridiculousness quickly became an MTV staple for its laugh-out-loud comedy of showing viral videos from the internet of failed do-it-yourself stunts and comedic mishaps. Dydrek and his co-hosts would react to the videos, with MTV producers making clear that fans could not submit their own videos for safety reasons.
