Chidimma Adetshina has confirmed that she will not be attending the Miss Universe Nigeria finale to hand over her crown due to a falling out with organisers.
The South African-born model has made headlines in recent months over allegations of identity fraud and a criminal investigation by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA)
Last year, the DHA confirmed that her Malawian mother, Anabela Rungo, had illegally registered her birth in South Africa. She has since been arrested for contravening the Immigration Act and the Identification Act.
CHIDIMMA CONFIRMS MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA NO-SHOW
In an Instagram Story, which she reposted on X, Chidimma Adetshina confirmed that she would not be attending the Miss Universe Nigeria 2025 crowning.
The finale is taking place on Saturday, 30 August at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.
The 23-year-old said: “I’m having mixed emotions…a lot is happening.
“My heart is so broken because I am not able to crown my successor. It’s been a hard pill to swallow, but it is what it is.”
In recent months, Chidimma reportedly fled Nigeria and her title as Miss Universe Nigeria after a rumoured fallout with pageant organisers.
A year ago, the 23-year-old went from representing South Africa to Nigeria just a few weeks later. After winning the Miss Universe Nigeria title, she participated in Miss Universe in Mexico in December, where she was placed as the first runner-up.
WHERE TO NEXT?
While Chidimma Adetshina hands over her crown to the Miss Universe Nigeria this weekend, she still holds the title of the Miss Universe Africa and Oceania, and as the first runner-up at the Miss Universe 2024.
The international pageant will take place on 21 November in Thailand.
Before her fallout with pageant organisers, Chidimma revealed her plans to launch a career in the Nigerian entertainment industry. She has since returned to her home in Cape Town.
