Myleene Klass has praised the ‘awe-inspiring’ St John’s Ambulance after she saved a man’s life at Brighton Pride.

As the Sugababes sang their headlining set at Preston Park at the weekend, the presenter burst into action behind the scenes.

In a clip posted to social media, Myleene, 47, shared ”You can probably hear the Sugababes are on in the background, and I’ve just helped save a life.’

The former Hear’Say star has been an ambassador for the charity since March 2024 and was volunteering over Pride weekend when she helped the festival-goer.

Myleene had to perform a ‘jaw thrust’ as part of a first response unit, which is a technique designed to clear someone’s airways.

The move involves lifting the lower jaw forward, displacing the tongue and helping them breathe again, although she was unable to give any more details.

‘I cannot divulge what happened with the patient, what the circumstances are but what I can say is I am utterly blown away and just to have been a small part of it as well,’ she said.

‘I actually just had to do the procedure that is known as a jaw thrust – that gives you an indication as to how serious the scenario was. The patient is on their way to the hospital right now.’

Myleene first got involved with St John’s Ambulance in 2021 with their Ask Me campaign and has volunteered over the years after being trained by the team.

‘It was honestly awe-inspiring seeing how St John Ambulance operated. We have doctors and paramedics,’ she shared. ‘Everyone is here. Everyone just did their bit.’

In her caption, she continued to praise the ‘extensive professional expertise’ of the volunteers, calling them ‘exceptional’.

‘You said afterwards you were ‘just doing your jobs’ but as SJA volunteers, that’s not entirely true,’ Myleene wrote. ‘You were following a calling on your “day off” which saved a life and immeasurable heartache for the patient’s family and friends.’

The Sugababes headlined the Sunday night at Preston Park, bringing hits like About You Now and Push the Button.

Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena, and Siobhan Donaghy reunited under the band name a few years ago and have performed at the likes of TRNSMT, Kendall Calling and Glastonbury since.

None other than Mariah Carey also took to the stage for ‘Britain’s biggest Pride event’ after being announced as the headliner in 2020 but the entire festival was axed as Covid lockdown began.
