At least there’s still plenty to watch on Netflix, though, with the streaming platform wasting no time in unleashing some pretty big movies upon us before the first month of 2026 is even up. One film in particular has seen off all-comers over the past week with the kind of viewing figures others can only dream of. For those still unfamiliar with the TV phenomenon, it follows Ryder, a 10-year-old boy, who works with a team of six intelligent puppies called the Paw Patrol. De De Pyaar De 2 — Flying into the charts at number seven is this Indian romcom, a sequel to 2019’s De De Pyaar De. The Hindi-language film, shot in both Punjab and London, sees the return of couple Ashish and Ayesha (who is almost half his age), as he meets with her family to win their approval of the relationship. However, when the age gap between the pair is revealed, Ayesha’s relatives cook up a crazy scheme to drive them apart.

6. How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World – 3,200,000 views

Ben Affleck as Detective Sergeant J.D. Byrne shining a flashlight and Matt Damon as Lieutenant Dane Dumars standing next to him in The Rip — 2026 may barely have got out of the starting gate, but Netflix has already hit the jackpot with this Matt Damon/Ben Affleck action thriller, scoring the sort of first-week viewing figures which could well see it being crowned one of the biggest movies of the year. The film, based on a true story, sees Damon and Affleck playing Miami cops who are part of a team that discovers a stash of what appears to be $20million in a safehouse. They have to count the money before they can leave the scene, but also have to survive the night as suspicion sets in. We don’t see this one being ripped from the charts any time soon.
