Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters broke their record, and this is how BTS reacted

If you told me KPop Demon Hunters would become one of the most talked about films of 2025, I would have called you a liar, but somehow it’s broken records set by established K-pop groups such as BTS and Blackpink.

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, and with music from Marcelo Zarvos, KPop Demon Hunters is about three singers who are protecting the world from demons using nothing but the power of song. The music is straight fire, the animated design is created by the same people from Into the Spider-Verse, and if you’re a fan of morally grey heartthrobs, then you’ll love it – need I say more?

While its 96 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes is impressive enough, the film’s music has cemented itself on Billboard Hot 100, dominating the charts in the UK, America, South Korea, and about a dozen other countries. Even now, nearly a full month after it was released on Netflix, it is still front and centre on TikTok and Twitter.

Perhaps the biggest sign of its domination was when KPop Demon Hunters surpassed both BTS and Blackpink as the highest charting K-pop tracks. All that from a fictional band is pretty impressive.

A few BTS members have commented on KPop Demon Hunters

Even if you’re not a fan of the K-pop genre, I’m willing to bet you’ve heard of BTS. The band started in 2010 and was comprised of Jungkook, V, Jimin, Suga, Jin, j-hope, and RM, releasing iconic songs such as Dynamite, Butter, and Permission To Dance.

Though you might assume that the BTS members would be a little salty after a fictional band broke their record, a few members have reacted to the songs, and they seem pretty chill.

Lead singer Jungkook, widely considered to be one of the leading voices in the genre, has reacted to practically every bop on the album. He even offered his rabid followers his own rendition of Your Idol and Soda Pop, both performed by the Saja Boys in KPop Demon Hunters.

“I cried watching KPop Demon Hunters. I really cried at the end,” he said. “When everyone was falling for Saja Boys & she was like ‘I’ll create my own Honmoon’ & ran into the venue by herself, I was like ‘ohhh’ & then the tears came out.”

Jimin also joined his bandmate during the stream, bopping along to Your Idol and learning the words via Spotify lyrics. Suffice it to say he’s also a fan, despite people arguing that the Saja Boys are a carbon copy of BTS.

Suga, lead rapper since 2013, also said he was going to watch the film after being discharged from mandatory military service, according to people on Twitter. During a live video, when he teased BTS’ return to music in 2026, RM referenced Soda Pop by the Saja Boys in a move that had Netflix updating its Twitter bio to “BTS NOTICED SAJA BOYS.”

Seriously, if you haven’t already watched KPop Demon Hunters, do it right now. Why are you still here?
